General Description:
The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum (IPHF) in St. Louis, is the only organization world-wide, whose purpose is to celebrate the achievements of the inventors, pioneers and pivotal artists throughout the history of photography. After 48 years of existence, the IPHF (IPHF.org) has recently opened to the public in the Grand Center area of St. Louis. There are over 75 volunteers and a part-time paid staff.
IPHF is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, self-directed candidate to handle the following
Primary Responsibilities:
• Fundraising campaign management: The development director will manage annual fundraising campaigns from planning through fulfillment, with a goal of growing and strengthening the IPHF’s individual giving and sustainer programs.
• Donor cultivation: The director will research and target appropriate donors for specific messaging, with an eye toward moving regular donors to sustainers and sustainers to major donors. He or she will develop “giving circles” and other incentives, events, and messaging to encourage major gifts.
• Donor data management: The director will assist in the selection and lead in the integration of the existing “Past Perfect” database and CRM. With this tool in place, the director will analyze and segment donor records for more effective communication, keep records updated, and manage gift processing.
• Grant prospecting/grant writing: The director will seek out new grants and work to develop relationships with program officers at local foundations. In coordination with the Executive Director and volunteer grant writers, he or she will write grant applications and renewals and develop effective materials that can be reused from application to application.
In addition to these responsibilities, the development director will be expected to serve as a leader within the organization, working with volunteers, attending meetings, being interviewed by the press and providing general support as appropriate.
Experience:
We’re looking for a candidate with a degree and at least three years’ experience working in a non-profit fundraising environment. (S)he will have a thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base, including donor prospecting and cultivation and great research and application cycles. We expect an ability to collaborate with and motivate an array of internal staff, board members, and volunteers. We’re looking for creativity! You must be willing and able to bring new ideas, be open to growth and experimentation, and not be bound by existing structures. We’re looking for a passionate and effective advocate for IPHF, its mission and vision.
Compensation:
This job will begin as a three-month contract position, and will evolve upon a successful review into a salaried part-time position that includes two weeks of paid vacation after one year of employment.. The IPHF development director will work remotely and set his or her own schedule; however, candidates must be located in the St. Louis area, as some duties do require on-site work and meetings..
