General Description:
Reporting to the CTO, The Social Media Product Manager is the catalyst for development and stewardship of our St. Louis Client’s product platform. You are the in-house product expert, able to speak to and make recommendations for client solutions. You will serve as a bridge for these products from the research and recommendation phase to the concept, design, and implementation with internal staff. The Director of Product Development will facilitate product development meetings and manage the portfolio of product development initiatives. You will collaborate regularly with Client Success teams, Media, and Community Engagement Managers to understand client and market needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Market Analysis and Strategic Planning
• Research, analyze, and monitor client industry needs and trends.
• Define business value of potential solutions for target markets in order to guide and prioritize development of products, and features (or their components) for Client Success teams.
• Specify market requirements for current and future products through market research, industry experience, and design inputs from stakeholders, customers, and prospects. Support ongoing management of product portfolio, including managing to long-term product development roadmap.
• Participate in defining strategic pricing models for new and existing products, considering competitive pricing models, internal costs, value proposition metrics (e.g., benefits, savings to clients, process costs, etc.), market acceptance, and adoption rates, and present final pricing recommendations to leadership for approval.
• Follow a structured, repeatable process for conducting market research and competitive analysis (including industry publications, analyst research, experiential research, client surveys, etc.) and supply to internal departments and stakeholders appropriately in support of strategic initiatives.
Product Development Lifestyle and Ongoing Improvement
• Manage product lifecycle process including ideation, product concepts, exploration, approval, requirements, design, development, launch, execution, and ongoing measurement, ensuring that execution is aligned with our client’s Lab product development methodology, process, and best practices.
• Maintain strong and well-documented product development life cycle milestones.
• Participate in making decisions regarding product direction and be held accountable for those decisions.
• Actively manage the enhancement requests and end-user feedback process to identify and assess opportunities for product innovation and ongoing development with the goal of increasing product usage.
• Increase profitability of existing products and services to support development of new solutions that advance business objectives and client needs.
• Simultaneously manage multiple products in varying stages of the product life cycle.
Product Knowledge, Training, and Support
• Work with teams to ensure understanding, adoption, and application of all products. Provide or manage product training, presentations, sales tools, training materials, and technical expertise to support internal departments.
• Assist with resolution of critical problems internally.
Marketing and Communications
• Work with Client Success and Creative teams to execute creative strategies, campaigns, and user case studies to increase marketplace presence and augment brand awareness.
• Collaborate with marketing to develop product-marketing strategies based on established product objectives, costs, and value proposition.
• Establish client feedback channels to quantify the value proposition and inputs to the pricing analysis and marketing collateral.
Monitoring and Reporting
• Provide leadership with regular written key performance metrics on all products.
• Develop and maintain a strategic planning approach for summarizing and communicating the results of aggregate research.
• Work with Client Success teams to establish client feedback channels to quantify the efficacy of new products.
