I wanted to send a note of support and optimism, as business has stopped, literally overnight . . . we’re here to help you. I agree with those marketing prognosticators and many of our Clients, who suggest that once this virus is under control and we approach ‘normalcy’, business and demand for marketing will explode with the pent-up demand that will have been simmering for months.
Jobs will return to support that demand. Whether laid-off or furloughed employees wait for their former employer to hire them back is an open question. There will be new, better opportunities. There are CEOs and Managing Partners all over, who are wondering “What will we do to staff properly for the future”. The most experienced executives are creating contingency plans, in case “their” employees have found a better opportunity. The most sought after, data driven skillsets have changed and will be in high demand. Opportunities will abound! Brands will be hiring!

We have initiated resume, portfolio and career consulting services for the laid off marketers from free, to greatly reduced fees for those earning more. For example, I’ve had conversations with principals who’ve inquired about how to help their laid off employees utilize our resume consulting and career coaching services. They’ve also inquired about the availability of existing candidates, with very specific skillsets, that would be available when we turn the corner on COVID-19.
We’ve been receiving resumes of those who’ve been furloughed or laid off. They’re arriving surprisingly frequently. Many of them are also surprising in terms of the employees’ previous high value delivered to their employer. It’s just tragic! Others are taking this opportunity to refine their career growth strategy. Some are taking advantage of online education and certifying their skillsets.
When business re-starts, we’ll have a ready list of top performers, in diverse and sought after specialties. Please let me know how I can help you. My intent is to re-structure fees, to be realistic under these unreal circumstances . . . especially for my previous Clients. The goal is returning to pre-COVID levels of activity, then resuming growth!
We’ve worked with Clients and found creative solutions to fee structures, from discounts, to “flat fees” to allowing payments to be made over time, avoiding that large expense at the time of hire. We’ve started some creative, contract-based recruiting strategies. We’re open to work with you and find solutions.
